Home Sweet Home!
Posted by Prestige on August 20, 2010, 7:33 pm
After an amazing holiday I was quickly brought back to reality when we flew into Auckland amidst torrential RAIN! Will it ever stop! Auckland is very sodden at this moment and its showing no signs of improving.

Prestige and I are right back into it. We both feel refreshed and rested after our break. Even being rained and hailed on all week hasn't dampened our spirits. I do dream of an indoor arena most nights though!

Its not long till the breeding season starts now and Prestige will be available for fresh/chilled season from 1st October 2010.

AUTUM UPDATE
Posted by Prestige on May 24, 2010, 6:24 pm
Well I think its safe to say that the drought is officially broken!

Its raining and feeling like winter in Auckland again. We can't complain though, we have just had the best summer I can remember. Prestige and I are still hard at work 6 days a week. I'm finally staring to get my head around the Grand Prix work and working out how I can influence his body more as my riding slowly improves. I find it so challenging and can't wait to go out to ride him each day.

Prestige and I are both having a winter holiday this year. I head off on a non-horsey family trip to Europe for 6 weeks in July. Mr P gets to have a well deserved break which I think he really needs after being on such a steep learning curve. Then its full steam ahead towards the start of the new season!

HOY - Too Much too Soon!
Posted by Prestige on March 22, 2010, 2:44 pm
HOY was as incredible as ever! What an experience! It certainly had its ups and down's!

On the up side - Prestige was showing some of his best ever work in the warm up arena. He felt incredibly powerful and was amazing to ride. He was very sharp and electric and the piaffe and passage was very very good.

On the down side, the atmosphere in the main arena was charged and growing on a daily basis. The horses could see the Show Jumping arena through the tents this year. He probably would have coped if we had started earlier in the week, but by Friday it was starting to peak. He was very much on edge and I had bad luck with the timing both days this year in the SJ arena. We had only been in the main arena during the trot up, which was at night and everything was closed up and on one was around. I think he was in shock when we came over the hill the first day to a packed house, tents, flags, big TV screens and show jumpers whizzing around at full speed right next door!

He was coping well the second day in the Grand Prix until they started the SJ prize giving during my passage/piaffe tour. With 10 horses galloping round 20 meters away doing a victory lap and the crowd roaring, it was all to much for him to deal with! I only just managed to finish the test!

We'll be back next year, with another year's experience under our belts. Hopefully they might change the set up so they block out the view of the show jumping arena from the dressage arena. Congratulations to all my fellow competitors who put on some amazing displays of dressage!!
